Shopify monitoring

Shopify store monitoring up to the cart

Shopify monitoring in IThandy Monitor checks uptime, the domain, certificate, product page and add to cart. Shopify servers rarely go down, but your theme, apps and custom domain can still block sales. IThandy monitors Shopify stores from Warsaw, Poland, in your language and with a proper invoice.

Scope

What I check in a Shopify store

  • Every 5 minutes I open a product page and add a product to the cart.
  • I detect theme (Liquid) errors and password pages that close the store to customers.
  • I watch your custom domain: DNS, certificate and the redirect to the store.
  • I do not test Shopify checkout: it runs on Shopify's side, so the checkout test ends at the cart. That is why the Shop Pro plan gives you nothing more than Shop here.

Customer journey

The customer journey in a Shopify store

I check the solid stops; the dashed ones are not checked on this platform yet, or at all. Hover over or tap a stop to see the details.

Typical failures

What most often breaks sales on Shopify

  • An app or theme edit after which the "Add to cart" button disappears.
  • A custom domain with a wrong DNS record or an expired registration.
  • A store left password-protected after theme work.
  • A slow store because of too many apps and scripts.

Recommended plan

Shop: €35 excl. VAT / month

For a shop that lives on sales: I check that a product can actually be added to the cart. Annually €350 excl. VAT. Each additional store costs less, up to -46%.

Questions

Questions about Shopify monitoring

Why monitor Shopify if Shopify looks after the servers?

Because Shopify is responsible for the platform, not for your theme, apps and domain. Those are what most often break purchases, and the Shopify status page then shows that everything is fine.

Do you test Shopify checkout?

No. Shopify checkout runs on Shopify's infrastructure and has its own monitoring. I check the customer journey up to and including the cart.

Which plan should I choose for Shopify?

The Shop plan: product page, cart and e-mail alerts. Start is enough if you only want to watch uptime, the domain and the certificate.
